Introduction


I am a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Sociology at Rollins College. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2006. I have previously taught at Randolph-Macon College and Hofstra University.

I teach a broad range of courses in Sociology, including Research Methods, Theory, Sociology 
of the Family, Race and Ethnic Relations, and Who Cares for Children and Elders.
 
My research focuses on issues related to care in society, including unpaid care, family leave, 
and care workers. I am co-chair of the Carework Network, a global network of researchers on care work.   I am co-editor (with Mignon Duffy and Kim Price-Glynn) of the Care in a Changing World book series, with Rutgers University Press.  I am a co-editor of Caring on the Clock: The Complexities and Contradictions of Paid Care Work (Rutgers 2015).  I have published other research in Work and Occupations, the Journal of Family Issues, Social Science Research, and Social Science Quarterly.
